About Me - Aspiring SEO Specialist

Welcome to My Blog!

Hi there! My name is David, and I’m a 500-level medical student. I recently completed my 2nd MB exams, which is the promotional exam that moves us from 400 level to 500 level in medical school. Thankfully, I passed — and if you’ve ever spoken to a medical student who has survived pharmacology and pathology, you’ll know that’s no small achievement.

For now, I’m on holiday, and like many students who suddenly find themselves with free time after a long academic stretch, I started asking myself a simple question:

“What should I do with this time?”

Over the past four years in medical school, I’ve explored a number of different things outside academics. I’ve dabbled in forex trading, print-on-demand businesses, affiliate marketing, and even a bit of Web3. Some worked out better than others, but none of them became something I truly committed to long term.

To be fair, medical school doesn’t exactly leave you with a lot of spare time. Between lectures, studying, exams, and clinical postings, it’s easy to postpone other interests. But I also came to an honest realization: sometimes I used my busy schedule as an excuse to stay within my comfort zone instead of seriously building a skill.

This holiday, I decided I wanted things to be different.

After spending some time thinking and doing research, I chose to start learning SEO — Search Engine Optimization.

Search Engine Optimization - A tool for brand growth

Why SEO?

Because in today’s digital world, visibility is everything. Every online business wants people to find them — whether it’s through Google searches, blog content, or online platforms. Behind that visibility is strategy, and that strategy is SEO. The more I read about it, the more I realized it’s a powerful skill that connects content, technology, and business growth.

And that’s how this blog was born.

This space is where I’ll be documenting my journey as I learn SEO from scratch. I’ll be sharing the lessons I discover, the strategies I experiment with, the mistakes I make, and the insights I pick up along the way.

If you’re someone who is curious about SEO, online growth, or building digital skills, you’re in the right place.

And if you’re simply here to follow along as a medical student explores something new outside the hospital walls, you’re welcome too.

Learning SEO From Scratch: What I Learned in My First Week (Beginner SEO Guide)

Introduction The first thing I did was sign up for the SEO course on HubSpot Academy. The course runs for about 3 hours and 30 minutes, and instead of rushing through it, I decided to spread it out across two weeks. For the first week, my focus was on the SEO basics section. What Is SEO? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. In simple terms, it’s the process of improving a website so that it gets more traffic from search engines through organic (non-paid) results. The goal is to help your website rank higher when people search for relevant topics. One of the key things I learned early on is that SEO is not a short-term strategy. It’s more of a long-term game. Results don’t usually happen overnight, and there are no magic tricks or quick fixes. SEO is cumulative — the work you do today can continue benefiting your website months or even years later. How Search Engines Rank Content Search engines rank content based on three major factors: discovery, relevance, and authority. First, ...
